Twin Tacos

This summer I have had the opportunity to become familiar with Umass Boston's culinary offerings. To be honest I am not thrilled by my options, there seems to be a lack of healthy options. After being at school for 5 hours I decided I needed to stop being so picky and grab some food at the cafe. I was on a budget so I decided to opt for the meal deal. For $2.99 I could get myself twin tacos and my choice of 2 sides. I got the tacos with some cheese and salsa and decided to get some rice and a side of carrots. Let me just say this there is a reason why this meal was was only $2.99. First the taco shell was stale, the rice was bland and salty, and the carrots where shriveled and bleeding butter.

This may seem like a rant but I really like to eat and this meal really took the wind out of my sails.

  1. Ahhh, Sodexo. They were the food service at my last college. GROSS. I refuse to eat at the cafeteria at UMB.

  2. Sodexo needs to be taken out back and "taken care of" with daddy's old shotgun. There are so many complaints against them.

WAY TO GO UMass, going for the lowest bidder even in nutrition. What a farse and blatant betrayal of the concept of education. Cultivating adults with the knowledge to make wise choices, but offering nothing but junk food to its students. Yes, school is a business, but stop embarrassing yourself!

Wow, it seems as though I had some ranting to do as well. Thanks for helping me get this out of my system.

  3. Sad! I love the mashed potato bowls on Wednesday. Some of the soups are really good too. I love the pre-prepped sushi, too.

One thing I was really proud to show my Mom in the cafeteria was the waste stations. I think it is very progressive of UMB to provide not only recycling bins, but compost bins as well. Way to be fully green, and not just pose as eco-conscious!

  4. UMB's food is not great.... Sometimes they surprise me and do a good job, but usually it falls short...
I agree there is nothing nutritious about our cafeteria!
